Jesse Clark is an engineering leader specializing in building high-performing teams in the Web3 and blockchain space. With over 3 years of people management experience, he focuses on developing individual contributors into technical leaders while navigating the complex cross-functional dynamics of decentralized technology companies. Originally from Colorado, Jesse now resides in Nicosia, Cyprus with his family.
Currently Engineering Manager at Rootstock Labs, Jesse manages DAO and Tokenomics engineering squads (8-10 developers). He has successfully developed two senior engineers into Deputy Tech Leads who now lead their squads independently. His leadership approach emphasizes people development, performance management, and strategic cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and Security teams.
Prior to his management role, Jesse served as Senior Technical Lead from 2022-2025, where he architected and delivered the Rootstock Collective DAO—a decentralized autonomous organization built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Solidity that secured over $1M in total value locked. He also led development of RIF Wallet, an account abstraction mobile wallet built with React Native that enables gasless transactions.
Jesse’s technical expertise spans the full blockchain development stack, including EVM-compatible networks, smart contract development with Solidity, and building decentralized applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js. He has deep experience with Web3 technologies, DeFi protocols, and Bitcoin Layer 2 infrastructure.
Before entering the blockchain industry, Jesse spent over 16 years in higher education technology, progressing from Web Developer to Manager of Web Communications at the University of Northern Colorado. He led a team of 3 supporting 450+ web authors and was responsible for web governance, digital marketing campaigns, and branding initiatives.
Jesse holds a Master of Science in Digital Currencies from the University of Nicosia, where he specialized in blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized systems. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Northern Colorado.
In addition to his professional work, Jesse founded PracticeSightReading.com in 2008, a SaaS platform that generates randomized sheet music and audio for musicians to practice sight-reading. He has maintained and evolved this project for over 17 years, recently migrating it from a legacy PHP codebase to a modern stack using Next.js, Node.js, and Supabase.
